Martin leads the MotoGP tests
Jorge Martin he picked up where he started. The Spaniard from the Prima Pramac team achieved the best time (1:57.951) on the first day of MotoGP testing in Sepang: the only one to go below 1:58, the #89 dedicated day 1 to evaluating the new engine of the Ducati. Martin's first feeling is that of a step forward compared to 2023, a feeling that will have to be confirmed between tomorrow and Thursday.
Martin's words
“It was definitely a strange feeling to be back on track, I didn't expect to make this time. I feel good, we picked up where we left off, I'm happy about it. This winter I've tried to improve on the weak points and be a better rider, and it seems like I've done a great job because physically I feel really good.“, this is Martin's comment.
“The focus of the morning was on try the new engine, and I had positive feelings, I did the ride with the new bike. It's a great point of reference, many times we've made comparisons between one bike and another, and I have to say that the new bike is better than the old one, we have good potential“.
Trust, yes, but limited
The engine represents a further step forward but in terms of power other manufacturers have also made progress: “At the moment I keep the 2024 engine, but we have to be careful because I don't want to make the mistake we made in 2022 (keeping a low-performance engine, unlike Bagnaia, ed.). I saw the other bikes on the track, Honda, Aprilia and Yamaha improved a lot on the straight, even Marini was running away on the straight. We must be ready to compete with multiple manufacturers this season“.
