São Paulo, 6 – The City of Rondonópolis (MT) declared an emergency for 90 days due to the prolonged drought. The measure is contained in Decree No. 11,917, published on Monday, 5th, in the municipality's Official Gazette, and responds to the request of the Rural Producers Union of Rondonópolis.
In a statement, the entity's president, Lucindo Zamboni Júnior, said that the production chain affected by the severe drought will be able to turn to financial institutions to renegotiate its debts, in addition to benefiting from the actions and resources of the federal government.
The municipality will also be able to request resources from the federal and state governments for civil defense actions, such as humanitarian assistance, reconstruction of infrastructure and reestablishment of essential services.
