Tafadzwa Dhliwabo, a midfielder for Dibba Club in the “First Division” club, was involved in a traffic accident on Al-Tawyin Street, Dibba, after which he underwent a successful surgery after medical examinations revealed that he had a fractured thigh, which means the end of the 23-year-old player’s season.
Juma Al-Abdouli, manager of the “Al-Nawakhatha” team, described the traffic accident that the Dibba midfielder suffered as horrific, and said in statements to “Al-Ittihad”: “The accident of the Tafadzwa player’s car colliding with a truck on the Al-Tawain Dibba road caused him to suffer a fracture in his thigh, so he must undergo surgery amid interest.” Management and fans of Dibba Club.
Al-Abdouli called on players in all clubs to adhere to road instructions and not to be distracted by phones and other things. He explained: “Injuries and traffic accidents remain an act of God. They may happen to anyone, but it is important to be careful, especially on highways.”
A similar traffic accident in March 2022 claimed the lives of the parents of the current Dibba defender, Brazilian Roger Mendonca, during their return from Abu Dhabi towards Dibba, at a time when the player suffered a moderate injury, before he recovered and returned to participate with the team.
During the team's match against its guest Al Dhaid 2-2 last Sunday, “Al Nawakhda” fans were keen to carry a banner with a picture of Tafadzwa, wishing a speedy recovery to the player who recently obtained Emirati citizenship as the first player in the “First Division League”.
Tafadzwa began his career in the Emirates stadiums with the Dibba Al-Hisn Club for two consecutive seasons 2019-2020, 2020-2021, before moving to Dibba at the beginning of the 2021-2022 season, as the current season is his third with “Al-Nawakhatha”, during which he participated in 19 matches. Al-Abdouli confirmed that the management of the Dibba Club, headed by Ahmed Saeed Al-Dhanhani, was keen to provide all the ingredients for success for the team, and said: “We seek during the winter Mercato to continue supporting the team by contracting with a foreign striker,” pointing to the strength of the fierce competition in the race for promotion to the professionals from the First League during the current season.
He added: “The recent contracts at the start of the winter Mercato have proven their worth and we aspire for the best.” Dibba had signed a contract with Gambian Fossini Gassama, who transferred from Masfout, and the resident duo of Brazilian Gabriel Cotto and Nigerian Victor Nwanyere, who transferred from Al-Oruba.
Dibba occupies seventh place in the Premier League standings for the current season, with 27 points from 17 matches. In its next match, Al-Nawakhda faces its guest, City, who is in penultimate place, in round 20, scheduled for next Saturday.
