The Knowledge Fund Foundation announced the allocation of more than 2.8 million square feet of educational assets in the Emirate of Dubai during the past year, an increase of 211% over the year 2022, which was allocated to investors and operators in the education sector.
The allocated assets are expected to serve more than 18,000 students in the emirate, through the implementation of special educational projects during the coming period, including schools and early education centers, and the provision of British, Indian, French and American curricula.
The allocated assets included various geographical areas in the Emirate of Dubai, and the Foundation was keen to distribute them in a way that serves the largest possible segment of society, as these areas include Nad Al Sheba, Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej, Al Thanyah, Nad Hessa, Mizher, Al Nahda and Al Roya.
With regard to the investment performance of the portfolio managed by the Foundation for the purpose of enhancing support for educational and knowledge initiatives in the emirate, the total market value of investments at the end of last year amounted to 1.01 billion dirhams, an increase of 47.2% over their market value at the end of 2022, as the sustainable strategy that contributed The institution implemented it in portfolio management to diversify investments, and to continuously search for promising investment opportunities that enhance the growth of the portfolio in a sustainable manner.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Knowledge Fund Foundation, Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, pointed out that the Foundation provided more than 250 million dirhams to support educational initiatives in the emirate last year.
The Executive Director of the Knowledge Fund Foundation, Abdullah Mohammed Al-Awar, stressed the Foundation’s keenness to attract investors in the field of education, to benefit from the services provided by Dubai to support the educational sector.
Al Awar praised the contributing partners in the educational sector, and said: “We thank our partners in the government and private sectors, and the main supporters of the (Dubai Schools) project, which are Damac Properties, Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates Islamic Bank, Dar Al Ber Society, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, in addition to To the Endowments and Minors’ Funds Management Foundation, as their valuable contribution had a significant impact on strengthening the education sector in the emirate.”
The educational initiatives managed by the Foundation, including “Dubai Schools”, with its three branches (Mirdif, Nad Al Sheba and Al Barsha), achieved tangible results during the year, as the number of students enrolled in schools reached 2,580 male and female students from 38 nationalities, an increase of 31% over the year 2022. This increase reflects the increasing interest of families in enrolling their children in Dubai schools, given the ideal environment provided by the educational system, within the Dubai Schools Project, which is constantly monitored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to ensure His Highness aims to empower future generations and provide the requirements for creativity and innovation to contribute positively to creating the future.
Last year, the Foundation provided scholarships to more than 2,200 students from Dubai schools at various educational levels, worth 50 million dirhams.
During the year 2023, the Foundation allocated more than 14 million dirhams for scholarships for distinguished Emirati students within the “Mohammed bin Rashid Program for Distinguished Students,” as the value of the support provided by the Foundation since 2017, in which the initiative was launched, exceeded 62 million dirhams, through which more than From 350 distinguished Emirati students.
The Knowledge Fund Foundation was keen to strengthen cooperation with various government and private agencies, with the aim of supporting the educational and knowledge sector in the emirate, as it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates Literature Foundation to launch the Reading for Pleasure initiative, which aims to enhance the concept of reading through the implementation of an integrated strategy in schools, based on Instilling a love of reading in students.
