The fate of the magical world depends on you: What to expect from Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior?
Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior: What is it about?
Long ago in Antala, two rival factions – Mayura and Balara – shaped the lands through conflict. Eventually, after years of war, they reached a truce, although the peace did not last long.. After the invasion of mysterious creatures – which people began to call Raxes – the kingdom of Balara quickly succumbed. As a last hope, the Queen of Mayura –Qhomera– was subjected to the “Ritual of Ascension”, thus being converted into a goddess.
With a new acquired power, Qhomera froze both kingdoms in time, trapping everything inside them, and thus preventing the Raxes from escaping. After stopping the invasion, Qhomera disappeared, leaving both cities encapsulated in time for centuries.
The survivors of this catastrophe escaped and founded a new kingdom. Now, with each generation, the kingdom is blessed with a protector – in other words, with a unique warrior known as Lysfanga, who is tasked with passing on his powers to the next generation.
However, something changes unexpectedly and it turns out that the new Lysfanga leads to twins: Kehör –with incredible mastery in magic–, and you, who would embody Imë – who has an impressive affinity and strength in the use of the sword. When the time comes to accept his duties as Lysfanga, your brother, Kehör, suddenly disappears, leaving the responsibility solely yours.
Years later, the people of the kingdom wake up terrified, with the golden glow that kept the invasion trapped in time, now invisible on the horizon.
From the old continent, the voice of Qhomera calls you. Your journey starts here.
After reaching Mayura, Imë (you, the player) finds a surprisingly preserved city, and of course, the enemies are quick to welcome you, with Raxes in every available corner, Imë is forced to fight from the beginning, but after failing at the first attempt, Qhomera unexpectedly presents herself, giving her a new weapon, the power to turn back time, leaving shadows of herself to fight alongside her.
Imë uses this tool to advance through the abandoned city, until, surprisingly, He finds his brother, Kehör, whom he has not known about for years. – He left no trace of where he was or what had happened that led to his absence.
Kehör does not give him a very pleasant welcome; Furthermore, he “suggests” that he leave the city. When Imë refuses, Kehör, showing an apparent alliance with the Raxes, orders her to be detained if she decides to proceed.
What can we expect from the story's temporal and narrative nuances?
Talk about the history of Lysfanga It's something complicated, The established universe shows depth and thought behind each of the details, but it fails to really anchor you, the winks are there but they fail to generate curiosity.
Sometimes it even ends up showing you more about the past of the places you are exploring, details that connect us to the present of the story, but do not have a structure that invites us to explore. It also doesn't have very attractive characters or original nuances.its presentation is slightly absent; The only point of interest seems to be your brother and the reason for his current actions, which is insufficient to arouse curiosity in the development of the general and particular story.
Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior: The mechanics and their main nuances
As I mentioned at the beginning, Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior It has peculiar mechanics worth exploring within the genre, being a strategy and hack n' slash game; yes, in this order.
Let's start with the basics, Imë is a warrior who carries a sword, and we have two buttons to use it. These attacks are your bread and butter for dealing damage.so you will have a good time pressing both.
Although they are not very varied attacks, this is common in hack n' slash, because they focus more on your ability to control and eliminate large groups of enemies.
Based on historyyour next ability is to go back in time, creating clones of the past in the process. These clones will recreate your actions from the beginning of combat until the moment you decide to turn back time, thus giving you an “ally” who will reduce your effort to dispatch enemies. This ability can be improved by progressing through the game, or by finding secrets to increase the number of clones you can create.
It is important to note that You have a time limit to finish the fight, Otherwise, the portal through which your enemies emerged will detonate and we will fail the challenge.
Finally, we have two skill buttons. These are unlocked as we progress through the game, and have different uses, such as a ranged attack, or an explosion that will bring enemies within range closer. Both buttons have a different category of skills, and these are not shared between them, so you can only use one skill per button at a time, so you will have to choose the ideal one before starting combat.
The battles in Lysfanga They are handled in the form of combat scenarios, in which you can observe the positioning of enemies and obstacles before starting the confrontation. This will allow you to plan how to dispatch enemies without fail, or how to do it in record time. You can also repeat the challenges in case you want to reduce your time.
Combat can get a little repetitive at first, but it improves quickly as you unlock more abilities, and more types of Raxes and combat scenarios emerge. Because of this you will have to start really taking into account how many copies you have available.
The scenarios that break time
The game's visuals are simplistic but attractive. Thanks to its perspective camera, the quality between models and textures does not exactly leave you disappointed; It should also be noted that the constitution of the scenario is sufficient to compensate for this if necessary, it has an excellent setting and representation of the city in ruins, and it also prevents spaces from appearing out of place with the essential concept.
The character design follows the tone of the rest of the visuals, and although the art is consistent, this is not exactly pleasant, since they have little variety and not so memorable designs; again, except for those that constitute the “lore” of the game.
As for the audio direction, we can start by talking about the music, which perfectly sets the theme of Lysfangafrom the moment you see the start menu you can feel the drama and conflict, with a touch of epicness and antiquity, and as you progress through the game, this feeling for music only reinforces.
Among the dubious decisions that were made, is in the first instance an echo effect, which may seem minor, and you may even forget that it is there at some point, but you will undoubtedly hear it at all times, Since there is no action that does not produce it, and it persists area after area, it is an interesting touch of atmosphere that, although it is in line with the abandoned city theme, can become somewhat annoying as time goes by.
As a last topic, I would like to mention the voice acting.
It is never easy to criticize acting because there are many factors that affect the delivery of a line (direction, casting, etc.), and this may be the case in Lysfangagiven that The dialogues have an inconsistent delivery, between overdramatized or simply theatricaland the impact of the style varies from character to character – although, it is worth noting that your friendly new traveling companion is the only one whose dialogue sequences work well.

Should you give Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior a chance?
Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior It is an interesting installment, a quite intriguing proposal in terms of the narrative of temporality and let's say that it gives nuances to the genre.in addition to having a lot of potential in terms of its development – if we continue working on the same concept and with the same passion that is demonstrated in the project, it could become one of the jewels of indie, although unfortunately, for now It has not been a 100% good experience, since it does have some inconsistencies in terms of quality.
