We finally have one release date official regarding the beta Of Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox Serieswith the Square Enix MMORPG which will arrive, in trial version, on February 21, 2024 on Microsoft consoles, but it seems that the full version request a Game Pass subscription to work.
The official support page opened by Square Enix contains various information and details on how to participate in the Final Fantasy 14 beta on Xbox Series information a this address.
As reported, the free beta of Final Fantasy 14 will be available from February 21, 2024 at 9:00 am Italian, only for those who have never played the game before, thus allowing a first introduction to the online world.
The question of Game Pass subscription needed
The instructions they also indicate some options to activate on Xbox to participate in the game, since it is an MMORPG, in case you have not previously taken part in similar titles: essentially, it involves enabling multiplayer gaming, cross-play, communication via voice and text chat and more, usually all things already activated by default.
There complete version of Final Fantasy 14 will then be launched immediately after the end of the beta period, but there is not yet a precise timing: those who took part in the trial period will be able to continue where they left off, transferring characters and progress to the full version.
However, a rather debated issue at the moment concerns the Requires an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription (or higher) to play online: in the instructions it is in fact clearly stated that the free beta version does not require any subscription, but to switch to the full version you will need to have Xbox Game Pass Core.
This goes against the trend of what we saw on PlayStation: Final Fantasy 14 in fact has its own subscription and on other platforms it does not require further subscriptions for online play, at this point we await any clarification on the case from Microsoft or Square Enix.
