Pop superstar Taylor Swift is releasing a new album in April. “I'll tell you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years. My brand new album will be released on April 19th. It's called “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift said at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Shortly before, the 34-year-old had won one of the coveted music awards in the category of Best Pop Vocal Album for her current record “Midnights”.
“The Tortured Poets Department” means something like “The Department for Tortured Poets” in German. The cover, which Swift published online at the same time, shows a black and white photo of a woman lying on a bed and a piece of paper with a lyric.
The Grammys are being presented for the 66th time this year. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Golden Gramophones, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world and are awarded in 94 categories.
In addition to Swift, Billie Eilish and SZA also received awards at the start of the Grammy Awards. Eilish won the US Music Award for Best Song of the Year on Sunday night for “What Was I Made For?” SZA took home three awards: for best R&B song, best progressive R&B album and best pop performance as a duo or group with rock singer Phoebe Bridgers.
Singer Miley Cyrus won the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Flowers.” “Oh my God, I just got stuck in the rain and traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment,” she exclaimed with relief as she accepted the award from pop icon Mariah Carey.
