2024 is now a month old, and I'll be honest, this taya didn't really start off strong for me, man. Just like that, because I was lacking. Do you neck that one? Just be honest. This has recently changed, a change that was sparked by a podcast that was sent to me by Professor Zesnullen, Smibologist and gym teacher at Smibanese University.
You know that one guy who always runs without a shirt on? He's bald, lightskin, quite tall, and he always flashes while he's running. If you regularly scroll on social media, you know him anyway. Apparently that guy's name is David Goggins, and in the podcast I was sent he was a guest of one Andrew Huberman, who is a neuroscientist by profession. And to be honest, I haven't had one of those in a while rant taken to my heart as happened in this podcast.
From what I knew of Goggins before this episode, he was someone who was weirdly disciplined. But if you look below the average post of his on any platform, you'll see that opinions are super divided about him. Some people think he is exaggerating, while others have seen the light through him. People also decide – I don't know how – that he cannot be happy given his lifestyle, because he is only on pace! Tall trees catch a lot of wind, so I just went into that episode objectively, seeing what it says.
Do you know what that tori is with him? and why do so many people hate him or are fed up with his bullshit? Nine out of ten people you see walking by today aren't being honest with themselves, and haters are ten out of ten anyway. This man is so honest with himself that it's just too confrontational for all those hating people. In his 20s he was considered obese, and everything in his life was going against him. He faced constant racism where he grew up, and his home life was in his own words abusive. He had no deims, no matties, nothing. Ultimately, this man has changed his entire life and is now retired Navy SEALAn best-selling author, highly influential motivational speaker, and was recognized for some of his sporting achievements International Sports Hall of Fame. And all this on your own, just by doing it! Regardless of his mood.
What I especially like about him is that he's not romanticizing shit. He also honestly says that he never feels like doing what he sets out to do, and yet he does it! Purely on willpower. Podcast host Huberman supported Goggins' lifestyle with a scientific fact that is now also a Smibological scientific fact. Apparently there is a part of our brain, in the prefrontal cortex to be precise, called the Anterior cingulate cortex. This part develops when you do something you don't want to do. So the more you moved from reluctance, the less reluctance you will eventually experience in that libi general with anything. After this explanation, my conclusion was simple. Just let me do as much as possible that I'm dreading, and since then we've just made it work day by day. In short: get out your own way!
Shout out David Goggins! And Andrew Huberman.
