Sky UK made a first announcement while the BBC provided further details which seem to indirectly confirm the ongoing separation between the Brackley team and the seven-time world champion from Stevenage, who won six of these seven titles at the wheel of the Arrows of silver.
In fact, by 3pm Italian time, all members of the Mercedes team would have been summoned to the Brackley headquarters. The reason? A briefing with boss Toto Wolff and technical director James Allison. At this point, connecting the dots, it is likely to imagine that this meeting would take place to communicate Hamilton's farewell to them at the end of this season. A particular and highly unpredictable situation.
The veteran with the #44 on the single-seater had in fact only a few months ago ratified a contract extension with Mercedes – with whom he has always collaborated, given that the Stuttgart company was already McLaren's engine engineer during his stay in Woking at the beginning of his career – until 2025.
