Tension has skyrocketed in Portimao, where the Superbike tests are taking place over these two days, in which the VR46 Academy riders and all the Ducati riders are also taking part. In the early afternoon, Franco Morbidelli crashed at Turn 9, the one after the hill. Left on the ground, the Pramac team rider was promptly helped by Marc Marquez on the track and subsequently taken to the medical centre.
Fortunately, the episode ended with a great scare, because the medical tests he underwent did not reveal anything serious. However, there was a lot of fear and the red flag was immediately raised. Session interrupted (it was the fourth red flag of the day) and then restarted after breathing a sigh of relief.
Currently, Toprak Razgatlioglu leads the timesheets, while the best of the MotoGP riders is still Pecco Bagnaia. After dominating Day 1, the reigning world champion continues to lead the Ducati peloton, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli himself.
Marco Bezzecchi precedes Enea Bastianini, with Luca Marini and Celestino Vietti following. The last of the VR46 drivers is Andrea Migno. Among the Ducati riders, Marc and Alex Marquez also ride, but neither of the two Gresini riders are equipped with transponders, therefore there are no timed times.
