Leclerc will be there
Last January 25th Ferrari made the positive conclusion of the negotiation official renewal of Charles Leclerc with the Prancing Horse. The Monegasque driver has once again entrusted his future to the Red Team, with the hope of realizing his dream of becoming world champion in the most prestigious team in Formula 1.
The duration of the new agreement was not announced, with the press release generically announcing a multi-year extension. There is no doubt, however, that the Ferrari leaders have great faith in Leclerc, who was included in the Academy in March 2016 and accompanied to Formula 1 in 2017, first with an apprenticeship at Sauber and from the following year with the transfer to the Maranello team .
And Sainz?
Today's edition of Corriere dello Sportwritten by Fulvio Solms, took stock of the negotiations for the renewal of Carlos Sainz, apparently put on hold. For the journalist of the Roman newspaper, the Spanish driver “he would also be ready to sign”but a knot emerged in Ferrari's reflections: “Sainz is ambitious: he works to win the world title. But this very tenacity is becoming a problem in a Ferrari that is Leclerc-centric, a position never admitted and which, moreover, there is nothing to be scandalized about.”
In particular, it explains how “Vasseur stiffened, making his own the line of president Elkann who wants a one-striker team, and this point has to be Leclerc.” The Corriere dello Sport he wrote that “the negotiation has therefore become complicated and today we would no longer bet a penny on an imminent renewal”. The sports newspaper finally underlined that team principal Frederic Vasseur is in the thoughts Oliver Bearman as Leclerc's future teammate. But before Bearman there will be at least a two-year gap to fill.
