Ferrari, measured optimism
There Ferrari looks to 2024 with caution and moderate confidence. The pilots tested the SF-24 on the simulator and obtained impressions which – according to ambassador Marc Gené – are much better than those of 12 months ago.
In Maranello, however, they don't want to repeat the mistake made by team principal Frederic Vasseur: at the Christmas lunch with journalists the Frenchman implied that this year there would be fewer proclamations and more work. Also because there is a lot of work to be done if we want to resume the direct descendant of the most stellar car in the history of Formula 1, the RB19 which stunned the competition in 2023 with 21 victories in 22 GPs.
Gene's words
Gené himself does not believe Ferrari is likely to be back in the running for the big target in 2024: “Will we see Ferrari fighting for the World Championship? It's difficultbecause Red Bull had a very important margin last year and they themselves say that this year's car is much better“, these were his words at the Gran Gala Mundo Deportivo.
The Spaniard, however, repeats that the SF-24 is a car that represents an improvement compared to the SF-23: “Red Bull is obviously the favorite team. Fighting with them for the World Championship is a bit optimistic, but taking a step forward and being able to fight more assiduously with them is possible, yes“. The car, which will be presented on February 13, is a decisive step by Ferrari in the direction indicated by Red Bull at the beginning of the ground effect era.
