Today, January 24, 2024, a new update has arrived to the PlayStation 5 and, to the surprise of many, this version of the firmware goes beyond simply improving console performance. That's how it is, This time we see a series of substantial improvements to the Groups and Audio sections.
To start, version 24.01-08.60.00 allows that in the Party section, players can now see a list of groups they recently joined and restart one of them by selecting it. Similarly, Added equalizer settings, a sidetone feature, and additional improvements to Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite headphones that will arrive in the future. This is what Sony commented:
“We have added new features in Parties.
In the Groups tab, you can now see the list of groups you have joined in the past. You can easily restart a party by simply selecting it from the Recent list.
We have updated the device software for the PULSE Explore wireless headphones.
Now you can use the sound equalizer function.
You can now use the sidetone feature, which makes it easier for you to hear your own voice in voice chats.
When you have your PULSE Explore wireless headphones nearby, a notification will appear allowing you to connect to them quickly. Now you can easily change the connection from your PC to your PS5 through this notification.
We have improved the performance and stability of system software.
“We have improved messaging and usability on some screens.”
Finally, the update offers the already characteristic system improvements. Without a doubt, a series of additions that are very worthwhile, but it is important to mention that the most valuable thing is in the audio section, and if you do not have the Pulse Explore and Elite headphones, it is likely that you will not be able to take advantage of this update in all its glory. Editor's Note:
I didn't think the PS5's audio needed any improvement. The Pulse 3D works wonderfully with the console, and all the games that offer support implement it well. However, there always seems to be room for improvement, and I can't complain with this.
