Switzerland and India reached an agreement this weekend on the free trade agreement between the countries, after 16 years of negotiations. According to Swiss Economy Minister Guy Parmelin, teams from both countries are working to finalize the final details and sign the agreement “as quickly as possible”.
“On a last-minute invitation from my Indian counterpart Piyush Goyal, I traveled directly from the World Economic Forum in Davos to Mumbai. After 16 years of negotiations, we managed to find a balance in the main points of the free trade agreement between the European Free Trade Association and India”, explained Parmelin, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The European Free Trade Association, also known as EFTA, is a European organization made up of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
