Ice hockey | HIFK's dark streak continued, Åsten banished Ilves' winning goal: “There wasn't even a place”

HIFK has already lost 13 times in the Nokia Arena without a single win.

Tampere

Helsinki IFK did not manage to win the ice hockey SM league game at the Nokia Arena even on Saturday. HIFK's balance in Tampere's new venue is now 13 visits and the same number of losses. This time, Ilves was better, winning the match 3–1.

Especially in the opening set, HIFK dictated the pace of the game, but the scoreboard read 1–1 after the set. IFK's only success on Saturday was Miro Väänänen.

Winger Micke-Max Åsten has been with HIFK throughout the Nokia Arena. The third season is now being played in Areena in Hulppea.

“In general, the home team has been well prepared here and good home teams. It has not been possible to steal points. I don't believe in any exorcisms and curses. It's the journalists' job to write to get headlines”, Åsten reflected.

HIFK has something to worry about, at least the winning goal of the match. It was directed in front of the goal Eetu Päkkilä.

“The goal that came wasn't even a goal, but somehow we played badly and the puck was in the net,” Åsten said.

In the end, Ilves' golden helmet hit the empty goal Eemeli Finlandwhen HIFK played without a goalkeeper.

Eemeli Suomi led Ilves to victory.

A match was watched by 12,162 spectators in Tampere. The IFK supporters who arrived in large numbers, together with the home crowd, made sure that the Nokia Arena saw a good atmosphere puck match.

The President of the Republic was also watching the game Sauli Niinistö. Niinistö, who visited Tampere on Saturday, received resounding applause from the spectators when his presence was announced with a video on the hall's video board.

Even Åsten praised the kind of match event that had been created for Tampere on Saturday.

“It was a very great hockey event. Both end up full of fans. A really nice cabin was in the hall. I was even a little surprised that there is still noise in the hockey league from Finland in the regular season,” Åsten sneered.

Roope Taponen saved only 12 shots.

HIFK played his second game in two days in Tampere. In Friday's match against Äss, Åsten became the player who played the tenth most regular season games in HIFK's shirt of all time.

After Saturday, Åsten has a total of 478 games in the SM league and he has played all his matches in HIFK. Tenth place came when Åsten passed on the list Darren Boyko.

“As a little boy, he came to Nordis and wore red. Yes, HIFK obviously means a lot. The top-10 came a bit out of the blue. It's a lot of games, but when you look at the top On Pepe Lehton is more than 850 games during the period when 40 games were played in the regular season, so there is still a little way to go. He must have done something right to be able to represent,” says Åsten.

Ilves–HIFK 3–1

On the rise: In the opening set, HIFK showed their ability for strong game control. Ilves was in a tight grip, even though it had rested for a week, as HIFK also played on Friday night.

In the invoice: Turning puck control into power was difficult on Saturday. It left Ilves with a chance to turn the game around with just one weak play on the defensive end.
