Finland wanted to completely ban real estate transactions with Russians
The Finnish authorities wanted to completely ban real estate transactions with Russians. This is reported by a group of regional publications Uutisuomalainen with reference to a statement by the country's Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen.
At the moment, the Cabinet of Ministers is looking for options to tighten the conditions for licensing real estate transactions by persons and companies associated with Russia. The measures may apply to all persons and companies registered outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
Häkkänen added that decisions on the issue will be made in the spring of 2024. It is noted that last week, at the initiative of the Minister of Defense, three real estate transactions with buyers from countries that are not members of the EU and EEC were canceled. One of these organizations is associated with Russia. Häkkänen stated that these transactions could harm the organization of national defense, the protection of territorial integrity and national security.
Earlier, the State Duma wanted to rename the Gulf of Finland in response to Finland’s unfriendly actions towards Russia.
