Ice hockey | The girl lions got a really ugly backlash from Canada

Despite the loss, Finland finished second in the initial group.

Finland lost in a really ugly way to Canada in the Under-18 Girls' Ice Hockey World Championships on Tuesday. The girl lions ended their initial group with a sad 0-10 loss.

The first set was still somewhat even in the light of the numbers, and Canada went into the break with a 2–0 lead. In the second period, the puck was dug out of Finland's net three times, and in the last period the game broke up once and for all.

The final readings corresponded quite well to the picture of the game. In the match, Canada shot no less than 58 times on goal, while Finland had only seven shots on goal. So Finland would have lost, even if every puck shot towards the goal had hit the net.

A defender scored a hat trick from Canada Chloe Primerano and the attacker Caitlin Kraemer. Both of Finland's goalkeepers Lilia Huovinen and Kerttu Kuja-Halkola conceded five goals.

Despite the loss, Finland finished second in Group A and will face either Switzerland or Slovakia in the World Cup quarter-finals on Thursday.
