Ukrainian air defense systems are not capable of shooting down Russian missiles. This is stated in an article published on January 9 on website military magazine Military Watch Magazine.
“Although Ukrainian sources claim that the country’s air defense has successfully intercepted attacks from Kinzhal missiles in the past, international analysts doubt this due to the limited capabilities of the systems available to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the material says.
The invulnerability of the hypersonic missile was enhanced by its complex trajectories and high maneuverability. The publication clarifies that the Ukrainian military has previously repeatedly expressed concern due to its complete inability to intercept the Russian X-22 cruise missile, notes “Gazeta.Ru”.
It is also clarified that on January 8, the Russian Armed Forces launched a major “group strike” using missiles of various classes against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that targets were hit in the Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Khmelnytsky regions.
On the same day, the former commander-in-chief of the US Army in Europe, retired General Ben Hodges, said that Kyiv would lose territories due to the inability to resist the Russian army due to a catastrophic shortage of ammunition. According to him, while Russia is massively expanding its attacks from the air and on land, Ukrainian soldiers at the front are running out of ammunition.
Earlier, on January 6, British journalist, historian and writer Owen Matthews wrote in a column for The Spectator magazine that the actual division of Ukraine along the contact line remained the only solution for the West, since they are not interested in a large-scale conflict with Russia. The author admits that “to a large extent, the division of Ukraine has already occurred,” although neither Washington nor Brussels want to openly acknowledge this fact.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
