Maradona, the ruling of the Supreme Court. He beat Equitalia, he didn't evade taxes in Italy
Diego Armando Maradona gets yet another victory in his career, but this time he won't be able to enjoy it because he's dead. A ruling from the Court of Cassationin fact, put an end to an affair that tormented the Argentine champion, the battle with the Italian tax. The tax section of the Court of Cassation – we read in Il Mattino – has the appeal was accepted presented in the interest of Diego Armando Maradona and thus perhaps definitively blew the whistle the end of the game no holds barred between Maradona and Equitalia. The story is known and has begun in the mid-1980s, when Maradona was the Pibe de Oro in Naples and his wages reached billions. It was speculated that some image royalties paid to foreign companies were a way to mask salaries in order to steal them from the Italian tax authorities.

The accusation – continues Il Mattino – it involved not only Diego but also society Napoli football and two other blue champions, Alemao and Careca. For everyone the issue was resolved with the forgiveness and extinction of the debt. For Maradona, however, no. And it's been going on ever since legal battle which still continues, more than three years after the death of the Argentine footballer. Today the Court of Cassation agrees with Maradona and sends everything back to the regional tax commission, which will have to express its opinion again on the matter. In the event of a definitive negative judgment, any remaining outstanding debt would fall on the shoulders of the heirs. But for the lawyer Angelo Pisani “this sentence is the definitive turning point. Now we will ask for a huge compensation“.
