“Izvestia”: an increase in the incidence of ARVI, influenza and COVID-19 was noted in the Russian Federation
In Russia, an increase in the incidence of influenza, COVID-19 and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) was noted. About it reported Izvestia with reference to data from Rospotrebnadzor and the Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute.
The publication stated that the incidence rate is 128.1 cases per 10 thousand population, which is 83 percent higher than the basic norm.
The experts interviewed agreed that a triple viral epidemic has begun in Russia.
According to their information, influenza A (H3N2) is now mainly spreading. Experts predicted a possible decline in incidence in February-March.
Rospotrebnadzor explained that during the week of December 18-24, 2023, infection rates increased by another 5 percent. The Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute announced a gradual increase in incidence since the beginning of November.
Earlier, infectious disease specialist Irina Davydova told Lenta.ru that there are no prerequisites for a new pandemic in 2024.
