Find X7 Ultra debuted on the Chinese market and stands out as the first in the world to offer two periscope cameras.
In the past, smartphone manufacturers were quick to talk about the quad-cameras of their models, although the “fourth” usually didn't shine: it could be a sensor for macros, a monochrome filter or simply an aid for depth effects.
Now, given that some of the best phones actually have four main camerasbrands are trying to distinguish themselves with other features.
Oppo has taken this challenge head-on by presenting the new Find X7 Ultra, which has not one, but two periscope cameras, managed by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The company has launched its latest jewel on the Chinese market: it is the first smartphone in the world to offer two periscope cameras and to adopt the new Sony image sensor from 1 inch for the main camera.
This device marks an important innovation in the photographic field thanks to the introduction of telephoto lenses with focal lengths of 65 mm and 135 mm.
At the moment, a possible arrival on the Italian market is uncertain.
Double periscope
The strong point of Find X7 Ultra lies, as is well known, in its collaboration with Hasselblad in the photographic department.
The four 50 MP sensors, included in the “HyperTone Camera System” include the 1-inch main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and offer an advanced imaging experience.
But the real innovation is found in the two periscope cameras, of which we had the opportunity to observe some recently disclosed shots: a 3x (65 mm) with a 1/1.56 inch Sony IMX890 sensor and a 6x (135 mm) with a Sony IMX858 sensor 1/2.51 inch.
Both equipped with OIS, they allow a minimum focus of 25 cm and 35 cmrespectively.
Oppo says the Find X7 Ultra covers a focal range from 14mm to 270mm smoothly thanks to the integration of the rear sensors and software switching between them.
The photography department of the Find
Not just rooms
The new top of the range Oppo appears to be a powerful and advanced device beyond the pure photography experience, driven by a processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.
Features like the display 6.82 inch LTPO OLED with peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits, 120Hz refresh rate and IP68 water resistance make it an attractive device for users looking for high performance and ultra-high-end features.
However, it's a shame that Oppo has no immediate plans to launch the Find X7 Ultra outside of China.
This could disappoint those who expected to see it available in other markets, like here in Italy.
Oppo's offering is diversified, with options for those looking for high performance and advanced features and for those with a more limited budget but still looking for a quality device.
Find X7, the basic modelis available in different memory and storage configurations, which offers some flexibility for buyers with smaller wallets.
However, compared to the Ultra model, it lacks some premium features such as the VIP slider, has one less sensor as well as slightly lower specifications, such as a smaller screen size and lower resolution.
