Reconnaissance units in the joint Yemeni forces in the Hodeidah axis monitored intense movements by the Houthi group, using booby-trapped boats in sea channels that the group built on the coast of Al-Tuhayta District – south of Hodeidah – to target international shipping.
The military media of the joint Yemeni forces reported that the Houthi movements, in the past hours, included introducing small boats believed to be booby-trapped into two sea canals that they built in the Al-Faza and Al-Majilis areas.
He pointed out that the canal is 210 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 10 meters deep from the sea to the middle of the dense palm plantations, adding that the Houthi group deployed a security fence preventing the people of the two aforementioned areas from approaching the two canals, and prevented them from working on their farms.
The Houthi group turned the largest fish landing center – south of Hodeidah – into a headquarters for what it calls the “Naval Forces”, and prevented fishermen from carrying out their work.
In this context, the British Maritime Trade Authority stated that a British commercial ship survived a piracy attempt by two small boats in the southern Red Sea, where the Houthi piracy operation is active.
The authority explained in a statement yesterday that the two boats hovered around the ship, without noticing any weapons on board, indicating that the ship and its crew were fine and did not suffer any injuries.
