The first meeting of the four emerging artists selected in the ICA Nexo Joven program, who will work for six months with Pedro Cano, Lidó Rico, Sonia Navarro and Ángel Haro developing their visual arts projects, was held this Monday at the Párraga Center and included with the presence of the Minister of Culture, Carmen Conesa.
The participants in this program are Danny Cruz Pérez and his project '(A)via Maternis' which will have Pedro Cano as tutor; Jorge Sánchez Rodríguez, who will work with Lidó Rico in 'Infamia'; 'The nourishing image' by Rocío Marín Navarro, which will have the support of Sonia Navarro; and Ángela Gómez López who has presented 'Symphonies of a Sleeping Mind: A Sound Journey Through Dreams' and will be mentored by Ángel Haro.
The projects of Danny Cruz Pérez, Jorge Sánchez Rodríguez, Rocío Marín Navarro and Ángela Gómez López were selected, among the different applicants who submitted to the call, due to the interest of their proposals, as well as their quality. Precisely, the artists who will be their mentors were part of the evaluation commission of the initiatives of the different emerging artists.
After this first meeting between the creators and their tutors, held at the Párraga Center, six months of work begin in which young people and veterans will share actions that range from tutored micro-residencies to the production of the work, which will finally be the object exhibition, and the edition of a joint catalog of all the artists selected in ICA Nexo Joven.
It is planned that after the summer a joint exhibition of the four selected creators will be held as the culmination of the mentoring. “With this initiative, we seek to make it easier for young talents when facing the always complex and difficult process until they get to exhibit their work,” concluded Carmen Conesa.
