RBC: in cold weather, the fuel pumps of Chinese cars fail
In cold weather, owners of Chinese cars in Russia began to turn to car repair shops more often due to breakdowns. The main problems of RBC foreign cars called service representatives.
In particular, owners of the JAC and Haval brands spoke about problems – the heater of these cars does not work well, the dashboards do not always respond to the sensor, multifunctional multimedia devices begin to malfunction, and the fuel pumps do not pump pressure well, and most of them fail.
At sub-zero temperatures, some cars' batteries are discharged and the engine cannot be started. EXEED brands had problems with climate control in cold weather – the system froze, but after the car was warmed up in 2-3 hours, everything began to work, the Autolegend car service center said. Other industry representatives noted that Chinese cars also had problems with brushes, but in general, owners of all brands of cars encountered problems in cold weather.
The popularity of Chinese cars has grown sharply with the departure of foreign brands from the Russian market in 2022-2023. Over the 9 months of 2023, 406.5 thousand Chinese cars were sold in the country, while 428.5 thousand were imported, and 153.4 thousand were assembled at car factories within the country (Haval, Avtotor). The indicators increased by 4.8 times, 3.8 times and 6.6 times, respectively. However, in recent months, a significant number of unsold cars from Chinese brands have accumulated in the warehouses of Russian dealers – their number at the beginning of December amounted to 175 thousand.
