The earthquake which hit the Noto peninsula, on the coast north-west of Tokyo, Japan, has already claimed over 100 victims and left more than 200 missing. And the situation has yet to stabilize, considering that the aftershocks following the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that devastated the western coast of the Asian country have not yet ceased. Despite everything, after having suspended local production for a few days, Toyota is preparing to restart its factories starting today, even if, as the Japanese company itself says, it will decide separately on operations from January 15th.
Suppliers involved
According to Reuters, many of the providers and their Toyota affiliates are located in the areas affected by the earthquake, which is why the Japanese giant said it was ready to use parts in stock outside those areas so as not to suspend production for too long. Only a few days ago Koji Sato, who is Toyota's president, reported the company's intention to understand the supply chain situation after suppliers Aisin and Sumitomo Electric suffered damage due to the earthquake. Sato had also announced that at least ten dealerships in Ishikawa Prefecture, the area most affected by the highest magnitude earthquake, they were unable to operate.
