His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, raised the state flag in Abu Dhabi to celebrate “Flag Day,” which falls on the third of November every year.
The flag raising ceremony – which took place at Al Hosn Palace – was accompanied by the playing of the UAE’s national anthem, in the presence of astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, the first Arab astronaut on a long mission that lasted six months on the International Space Station.
This national occasion aims to express pride in the banner of pride, pride and unity, in addition to loyalty and belonging to this dear homeland.
On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “On Flag Day, we proudly raise the state flag at Qasr Al Hosn, as an embodiment of the meanings of pride, glory and majesty it represents.”
His Highness added: “With the permission of God Almighty and the help, loyalty and solidarity of the people of the country, the UAE flag will always fly high and a symbol of progress, ambition and achievement.”
Sultan Al Neyadi’s participation in the event embodies the state and its leadership’s celebration of the role of the nation’s people in its journey towards progress and continuous ambition.
Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest historical building in the capital, Abu Dhabi, and is a witness to the stages of its development throughout its history.
