The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority completed the electrical current connection to 892 sites, the installation of 4280 electricity meters, the operation of 27 transformers, and the extension of a cable network of 112,564 meters in the city of Sharjah during the third quarter of 2022, after completing the inspection procedures and fulfilling all security and safety requirements. Completion of maintenance works for 4,526 11 kV stations and 339 sub-distribution panels, as part of the authority’s keenness to provide the best services to the residents of the Emirate and facilitate them.
The Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department at the authority, Engineer Ahmed Salem Al-Bas, explained that the electricity supply has been connected and operated for all requests according to the best specifications that achieve security and safety, and a number of channels have been provided to communicate with customers and meet their requirements.
He stressed that the authority seeks to develop electricity distribution networks and stations in all regions to deliver electricity to residential, commercial and industrial buildings in all areas of the Emirate of Sharjah after completing the facility and receiving requests for permanent electricity connection. He pointed out that the mechanism of electricity delivery to the facilities begins with the submission by the electricity contractor of a request to connect the electricity service in the Department of Shared Services, after completing 80% of the project completion stage, after which the request is transferred to the competent authority of the authority to study the project, by specifying the feeding point It is likely to supply the facility with electricity and to conduct a field visit by a specialized engineer to inspect the site in order to make a final report on the facility’s needs of materials (meter – cable size and length), which is determined based on the required load.
He added that the request is automatically transferred after opening the connection request in the Shared Services Department to the Inspection Department of the Electricity Distribution Department, and a date is set for the site inspection, in order to ensure the safety of electrical connections and their compliance with the specifications and requirements of the authority. A certificate of service delivery from the municipality after making sure that the fees are paid.
He pointed out that the connection fees and materials include the installation of the meter, the extension of the cable, and the connection to the main point, until a certificate of service connection / certificate of completion is obtained from the municipality, and after the certificate is brought, the electricity service for the project is operated.
