In 2017 the fanatic of starwars received episode eight of the saga, The Last Jedi, delivery that was not well received by both critics and fans, thus being considered the worst of the new trilogy. However, there are people who still have faith in this controversial film, and it is none other than the director who brought it to life, Ryan Johnson.
In a recent interview with the media Empire, the movie creator remembers this installment on its fifth anniversary, commenting that practically from day one he is proud of the final result. Even with the background of criticism and fans upset with the project.
Here their comments:
I am even more proud five years later. When he was up at bat, he really fanned the ball. It’s not just a Star Wars movie, it’s a movie about Star Wars and what it means to fans. I think it’s impossible for any of us to approach Star Wars without thinking about it as a myth that we were raised with, and how that myth, that story, became embedded in us and affected us. The final intention was not to strip, the intention was to reach the basic and fundamental power of the myth. And ultimately, I hope the film is an affirmation of the power of the Star Wars mythos in our lives.
Also, it defends the abrupt change that had Luke Skywalker Regarding the teachings of Jedi:
For me, the final images of the film don’t deconstruct the myth of Luke Skywalker, they build it up and he embraces it. They are absolutely challenging the notion of ‘throwing out the past’ and embracing what really matters about the mythos of him and what will inspire the next generation. So for me, the process of shedding is always in the interest of getting to something essential that really matters.
Remember that this film is available in Disney Plus.
