The coach of the Peruvian soccer team, Ricardo Gareca, was hurt this Monday for not having been able to qualify his team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and, therefore, not having given the fans that joy.
“A crowd came here, we couldn’t give him that joy, so that hurts us,” Gareca said at the end of the playoff match with Australia, played in Qatar and which was decided on penalties.

The future
The Argentine coach said he had “only words of thanks” for the Peruvian fans who were the majority at the Al Rayyan Stadium.
In Gareca’s opinion, the game that ended 0-0 after 90 minutes of regulation and 30 extra time, was “even” and “difficult”, “with a closed scoreline”.
“Too bad we were eliminated on penalties. We wanted to win it in the match,” said the coach.
When asked if this duel marks the end of his stage with Peru, Gareca stated that “this is not the time to talk about it” and he promised to do it once he arrives in Lima. “Once we get to Lima, in time I’ll see, I’ll see what I do,” she concluded.
