The artistic director of Metal Gear Solid And Death Stranding Yoji Shinkawa would like to design a real car. Through an interview with EDGE magazine, Shinkawa was asked about any future ambitions.
“One day I would like to design a car, a real car“, he answered. “This has been a long-standing ambition for me. Aaron Beck is a concept artist who makes and customizes the cars he has designed. Looking at models of cars or planes and then building one in real life is a large-scale project. I admire him“.
Shinkawa is responsible for Metal Gear Solid’s iconic graphics and character design, but designing a real car is certainly an unusual ambition. Shinkawa also discussed his working process with Kojima: “I look at the plot and make a series of rough sketches, and go through them to find the ones I like. I might stumble upon something I randomly created and also find potential use in it“.
Also in another recent interview, Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa talked about their ten-year collaboration.
