Picking the software a bit, maybe a set of new turbos and a sports exhaust. With most tuners, that is enough to get a lot more power from an engine. Not that you can look inside an engine, but you instinctively want a tuner to have done something more when they present the bill. Fortunately, that is the case with Brabus. The new Brabus 900 – based on the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S – has a special engine.
Brabus completely disassembles the 4.0-litre V8 to make a 4.5-litre. They did that before with the 900 Rocket. The new power is 900 hp and 1,250 Nm. The 0-100 time is now 2.8 seconds and because Brabus are a bunch of sensible rascals, they limited the top speed to 330 km/h. It is not entirely clear what the Brabus achieves without the limiter. Power is still sent to all wheels via an automatic transmission.
In addition to a revamped V8, this Brabus 900 gets a carbon fiber cover on the engine and a lot of new carbon fiber parts on the outside. The rims you see are Brabus’ 21-inch Monoblock Z rims. The car is also 20 millimeters lower. The interior kept Brabus quite understated, but they can undoubtedly make it as crazy as you want. It is not known what the German tuner charges for all the work.
