The Department of Municipality and Planning in Ajman announced that 99.12% of food samples were compliant with food safety laws during the first quarter of this year, in line with the strategic goal of enhancing food safety.
The Executive Director of the Department’s Public Health and Environment Sector, Engineer Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, said that concern for the health and safety of everyone is the department’s most important goals, and a fundamental pillar of its diligent work, as it develops plans and programs and implements projects aimed at achieving the desired goals, pointing to the role of qualified competencies in the department. Working in the field of food safety, by ensuring that food items conform to the specifications and regulations approved in the country.
He added that there are several reasons that contributed to the high percentage and achieving the desired goal, including implementing awareness initiatives, training and qualifying inspectors, obliging establishments to provide a qualified food safety official approved by the department in every food establishment, implementing approved food safety systems, and implementing specific sessions for sectors of economic activities affiliated with health. public, and strengthening joint cooperation with supervisory and regulatory authorities at the state level in the field of public health and food safety, within electronic systems and approved procedures, in addition to involving the community in raising observations and complaints about food and health facilities, within smart applications.
Al Hosani stated that the food laboratory was able to examine 2,127 food samples during the first quarter, using the latest devices and technologies to tighten control over food products in wholesale and retail food centers, food factories and bottled drinking water stations.
