Most people choose to go first to their family doctors to deal with dermatological problems.. This phenomenon, driven by the accessibility and familiarity provided by this relationship, is reflected in data from IQVIA’s 2020 Internal Audit, which reveals that 70% of patients treat skin problems with a first-contact doctor.
Primary care has become a crucial point for early detection and timely treatment of skin diseases.
According to the National Association of General and Family Physicians (ANMGF), first contact doctors commonly see patients with atopic dermatitis, acne, cold sores, burns, dermatophytosis, warts caused by the Human Papillomavirus, psoriasis and eczema. This scenario underscores the need for these professionals to be well trained in the recognition and treatment of common dermatological conditions.
Dermaland: Innovation in dermatological training
Faced with this panorama, there arises Dermaland, the first dermatology congress dedicated to training first contact doctors. Promoted by the ANMGF, the event is presented as an essential meeting point for general practitioners, internists, paediatricians, gynecologists and other health professionals not specialized in dermatology to acquire updated and practical knowledge in this area.
“Dermaland offers a comprehensive and specialized educational experience,” says Dr. Juan Manuel Ávalos Garavito, president of the ANMGF.. “We focus on providing up-to-date and practical knowledge, equipping clinicians with key tools for early recognition and diagnosis of a wide range of common dermatological conditions.”
A endorsed and recognized congress
Registered with CONAMEGE, Dermaland awards 12 points to participants who train through its educational program. This support reaffirms the commitment of the organizers to contribute to excellence in the continuing education of first contact doctors, thus guaranteeing better care at the primary level for patients in Mexico.

The event, which will take place on June 6 and 7, 2024 at the WTC Mexico City, promises to be a vital meeting point for the medical community not specialized in dermatology in Mexico.
