The sessions of the “Children’s Literature” workshop for members of the Dubai International Writing Program in Kuwait resulted in six stories written by the trainees: the story “The Stuntman” written by Jihan Ali, the story “Tiger in the Diwaniyah” written by Sarah Abdel Hamid, and the story “In the Neighbor’s Garden: Trouble!” It was written by Nesma Sharif, the story “The Balloon with Eyes” was written by Balqis Haider, the story “Bayed” was written by Fajr Sabah, and the story “Dafdoufah Jumps for Joy” was written by Noura Dhaidan.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, met during his visit to the State of Kuwait with members of the Dubai International Writing Program within the “Children’s Literature” workshop, which was recently concluded at the Creative Energy Studio in the State of Kuwait. During the meeting, which was attended by the trainer and writer Hoda Al Shawa and Salem Al Owais, head of the Dubai International Writing Programme, Bin Huwaireb praised the efforts made by the members in writing purposeful stories directed at children that attract their attention and develop their passion for writing and reading.
Bin Huwaireb said that organizing the workshops and sessions of the Dubai International Writing Program comes within the context of the organization’s strategy to develop creative writing among participants and enhance their skills in the field of writing for children in an interesting and innovative manner in order to produce works and writings that attract children’s interest and develop their passion for reading and acquiring knowledge. The visit comes within the framework of Enhancing ways of cooperation between the two countries, in line with the Foundation’s vision of spreading knowledge across borders and stimulating creativity among young talents in the field of writing.
Over the course of four months, the workshop succeeded in providing a participatory environment that allowed female writers to harness a range of artistic options for writing stories, such as choosing the topic and title, choosing the appropriate chronological format for the text, choosing the appropriate pronoun format, how to draw the character in the story, writing the plot, and choosing an influential ending that will be etched in the reader’s memory.
