5.3 magnitude earthquake hits northwest China without causing damage

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Chinese province of Qinghai this Tuesday, March 5 (northwest) without, for the moment, any reported injuries or material damage, reported the Center for Seismological Networks of the Asian country.

The tremor was recorded at 10:07 local time (2:07 GMT) and had its epicenter ten kilometers deep.at 33.52 degrees north latitude and 93.01 degrees east longitude, according to the institution.

On December 18, at least 151 people lost their lives in a 6.2 magnitude earthquake. which shook this same province and the neighboring province of Gansu, where it also left serious damage to infrastructure and more than 200,000 homes destroyed.

The December earthquake was the deadliest recorded in the Asian country, since what happened in August 2014 in the southern province of Yunnan, which caused 617 deaths.
