The Transformers phenomenon has its roots in the early 1980s, born from the creative mind of Shōji Kawamori rising star designer of “Mecha” and from the collaboration between the Japanese company Takara Tomy and the American company Hasbro. Originally conceived as a toy line, Transformers gained popularity through the animated series Tatakae! Chorobots seimeitai Transformerslaunched in 1984, which introduced the epic struggle between good and evil represented by the two factions of transformable robots: The Autobots led by Optimus Prime and the Decepticons led by Megatron. The TV series had the merit of mixing adventure, technology and conflict, capturing the imagination of children and adults and quickly conquering the global stage, including Italy.
Modern cinematography, since 2007 with Michael Bay’s films, he then transformed them into a global icon by expanding the background and mythology of the characters and mixing spectacular special effects with dramatic and compelling plots. The commercial impact of Transformers today takes advantage of a complete media presence from comics to video games, from films to toys and merchandising.
On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary, Hasbro together with Nexo Digital, has planned a special event in Italian cinemas. From 15 to 19 May it will be possible to attend the screening of four historical episodes of the 1984 animated series, “THE TRANSFORMERS”. Furthermore, it will be possible to listen to the behind-the-scenes stories of Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, historical voices of the characters of Optimus Prime and Megatron.

In conjunction with the film festival, Hasbro has planned a new “Transformers Generation Legacy United” toy line. This collection explores the various transmedia universes of the Transformers, uniting the different generations into a single series. Among the new features stand out Infernac Universe Nucleus and characters such as Side Burn and Vector Prime, perfect for enthusiasts and collectors.
In the meantime it is also possible to see the official Italian trailer of “Transformers: One“, the new animated film that will make us relive the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, when the two robots were friends on Cybertron. The film will be released in September in Italian cinemas.
