Ferrari in the lead, low blow for the Jota team
While waiting for the Hyperpole scheduled for this evening at 8:00 pm, the Ferrari prepares for the appointment with the best time Antonio Fuocowho takes his AF Corse #50 to the top of the FP3 standings by stopping the clock on 3:27.283. A clear message to the competition a few hours before the start of the decisive session for the assignment of the pole position and the first eight places on the starting grid, which however will not see the participation of the Posche 963 #12 from the Jota team.
Challenge in the finale with Porsche, BMW and Cadillac
Despite having passed the qualifying round, the crew will not take to the track for the damage reported in Callum Ilott’s accident occurred during FP2. Even in the third free practice session there were several interruptions due to other accidents, such as that of Matthew Bell at the wheel of the Cool Racing #47 (LMP2), or that of James Cottingham with the McLaren Autosport. After a good start for Cadillac in the first of the three hours of testing, the fight for the best time was concentrated especially in the last minutes, with Fuoco finishing with an advantage of 108 thousandths over the Porsche Penske Of Laurens Vanthoor, followed by his brother Dries with the BMW and by Bourdais, in fourth position and demonstrating the good pace of the Cadillac. In this regard, it is also worth highlighting the sixth position of Alex Palou’s #2, behind Lopez’s Toyota. The other two Ferraris were further away, both outside the top-10, as were the Peugeots.
Top-8 in the Hypercar class
Ups and downs for Panis Racing #65 in the LMP2 class, on the one hand leading the standings with the best time of Huffaker in 3:32.217 but on the other the protagonist of an off-track exit at the Indianapolis curve. A story very similar to that of McLaren in LMGT3, with the aforementioned Cottingham finished against the barriers in Tertre Rouge but at the same time leader of the category 3:57.588.
