Ciudad Juarez.- The Chihuahua Institute for Comprehensive Child Development (Ichdii) delivered scholarship checks to 87 child care centers here in Ciudad Juárez, benefiting a total of approximately 3,500 children of working mothers who trust these centers for the care of their children, allowing them to fulfill their work obligations, reported María Eugenia Álvarez, head of the agency.
The awarding of scholarships has required an investment of 21 million pesos to date.
This effort aims to provide financial support to child care centers, thereby ensuring that the services they offer to the community can be maintained and improved.
“Early childhood care is a critical issue, especially in a city like Juarez, where many families face economic and social challenges,” said the state official.
During the event, Óscar Ibáñez, representative of the governor, María Eugenia Campos, pointed out the importance of this support and its impact on the lives of the beneficiary families.
She stressed that the resources provided not only help keep the centres operational, but also allow parents to work with the peace of mind that their children are well cared for.
Ibáñez also stressed the need for constant dialogue between the government and the families who use these services.
She said it is essential to listen to the concerns of mothers and daycare staff in order to adapt and improve the program.
“Feedback is essential to ensure that the needs of children and their families are adequately addressed,” the state official said.
Regarding child care, the role that child care plays in the community was discussed, especially in contexts where both parents work.
The safety and well-being of children are fundamental elements that must be considered in any public policy, he said.
It was stressed that without the support of these institutions, many families would struggle to balance their work and family responsibilities.
The new director of the institute, Cecilia Mendoza, was introduced during the event.
“His appointment represents a step towards a management that is more responsive to the needs of daycare centers and their users,” said Álvarez.
“Her leadership is expected to contribute to improving coordination between the government and institutions that provide support to children,” she added.
Finally, she stressed the importance of continuing to work together to ensure that services for children and their families are accessible and of high quality.
“The provision of scholarships is only one part of the ongoing effort to strengthen the child care infrastructure in Ciudad Juárez, and it is hoped that in the future the benefits and the number of beneficiaries can be expanded,” said the governor’s representative.
