Despite the crooked race at Silverstone, Max Verstappen limit damage on the leaderboard. The Dutchman sees the advantage over Sergio Perez reduced to 34 points, but he holds the margin over Charles Leclerc to +43 thanks to the penalizing strategy of Ferrari at the end of the Grand Prix: for how the race had gone before the Safety Car, the champion of the world could have kept ‘only’ 25 points ahead of the Monegasque. Fortunately for Verstappen, this is not the case, and Leclerc even sees Perez ‘run away’ at +9, while Carlos Sainz is at -11. With the third place in his Silverstone and the fastest lap, Lewis Hamilton consolidates the sixth position and goes to -18 from George Russell. First points in career for Mick Schumacher, who finished eighth at the finish.
