The Astillero City Council has described the residents as “overwhelming response” 2,000 kilos of products food and basic necessities collected in just four hours of the campaign started this Saturday to send to those affected by DANA.
A “massive” collaboration that has already allowed a small convoy with material to be sent to Valencia, as stated by the City Council in a statement. These 2,000 kilos of items were collected from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., although the collection will continue until 10:00 p.m. this Saturday in The Warehouse of the Arts.
PRODUCTS
Specifically, 893 liters of water430 liters of milk100 products bread330 articles of personal hygieneand nearly 200 products cleaning. Nearly 150 boxes of diapers235 kilos of legumesalmost 300 units of preserves and more than 200 clothing items.
This response demonstrates “the generosity and collective effort of residents and local businesses in support of those affected by DANA,” the City Council has assessed.
SOLIDARITY
The mayor, Javier Fernández Soberón, has been “excited and overwhelmed”: “It is a pride to see young people approach and ask what they can do; that says a lot about the solidarity and values of our people.”
Pharmacies, bars, neighborhood stores and other local businesses have also begun to contribute essential products and the City Council has recognized the work of the volunteers who have come to collaborate in the organization and classification of the donations.
