Students and teachers often become victims of bullying or other forms of physical and verbal violence in everyday school life.
Note: This article covers topics such as bullying and physical and verbal violence.
Children should actually enjoy going to school and be able to look forward to lessons and recess. Unfortunately, everyday life looks very different for many of them because they are teased, bullied or even physically attacked by their classmates or even by teachers.
We have already collected examples in previous articles and these are enough from people who report their experiences with bullying, until to descriptions of how teachers have beaten pupils.
The experiences often stay with those affected for a lifetime, which was also made clear in our last question to our Facebook community:
In the comments, former students report how they still think about their own experiences today. Others, however, also talk about teachers who bullied them and who now regret it.
We want to share some of these experiences and thereby draw attention to what many experience not only in the moment of the attacks themselves, but also many years later:
1. “After I passed my final exams, my former principal said to me at the certificate presentation and graduation ceremony: ‘I wouldn’t have believed that you would even pass an exam.'”
-Sebastian K.
2. “We threw our art teacher’s bicycle from the tower at the boarding school (castle) onto a chestnut tree. The fire brigade was called out.”
“We thought it was funny back then (1975)… Today I’m embarrassed about it.”
-Hugo M.
3. “On the third day, when we all moved from primary school to secondary school, they emptied several trash cans over my head.”
“It was also a very pleasant experience…”
-Stefan F.
4. “My biology teacher in 6th grade always came to class drunk with his ‘fighting dog’.”
“He always threw a key around when he thought someone wasn’t paying attention. I caught the thing once and threw it back. He was so drunk he couldn’t catch the key and it hit him on the head. I had to go to the principal and do some stupid punishment.
A little later he rolled down the stairs from the upper floor and landed at the feet of the school inspector. It was his last day in school service.”
-Heike P.
5. “Bullying and teachers who didn’t care. They always just said ‘sort it out between yourselves’.”
-Connie S.
6. “In 1971, I moved from a one-class elementary school in the village to a secondary school in the city. My parents were so proud and dressed me in pleated suits.”
“Bullying was of course inevitable. It really bothered me.”
-Sylvia T.

7. “School assemblies in the gymnasium where grades 7 through 10 were gathered to expose the truants in grades 7 and 8 in front of the entire school…”
-Laura C.
8. “It was 15 years ago. Our class and PE teacher filmed us and the parallel class in PE class when we were practicing obstacle courses. He didn’t turn the camera off even when we asked him to.”
“I was the only one who refused and got a grade of 6. But I didn’t want everyone to laugh at me when I watched it, like the girl in the parallel class. She must have lied down and the good teacher laughed at her again when the video was played in front of the whole class.”
-Julia B.
9. “The math teacher was bullied by many of my classmates at the time. At some point she quit.”
-Felix M.

-Ela Q.
11. “A religion teacher hit me on the head with the Bible. She thought I was imitating her. But I wasn’t, she misheard.”
-Sabina S.
12. “Parts of our class were rude to a young teacher. She ran crying to the teacher of our parallel class.”
-Florian RW
