After six years of absence, Lancia decided to return with an official crew to the 1000 Miglia and did so 70 years after the first victory at the Freccia Rossa, won by the D24 Spider with Alberto Ascari at the wheel in 1954. It was the culmination of a two-year period full of successes for the Turin brand, in 1953, in fact, Lancia won the Carrera Panamerican and Targa Florio, also recording pole position and fastest lap at the 1000 km of the Nürburgring while after the 1000 Miglia there was also room for successes in the Monte Rally. Carlo, Giro di Sicilia, Targa Florio and Porto Grand Prix, as well as the debut in Formula 1. At the 1000 Miglia 2024, Miki Biasion, icon of the Rally, will be behind the wheel of a 1955 Aurelia B20 GT, considered a authentic jewel of the brand.
Lancia’s vision
As a support car there will instead be the new Lancia Ypsilon Limited Edition Cassina, a support car for the historic car and ready to arrive in dealerships. “The Renaissance of the brand becomes more concrete and real every day. The jewel lined up at the 1000 Miglia
The black 1955 Lancia B20 GT that the brand will field is owned by Stellantis and currently kept in the Heritage Hub in Turin, protagonist of the Style marks thematic area. The 42nd edition of the 1000 Miglia will start from Brescia on June 11th, where it will return on June 15th after stopping in Turin, Viareggio, Rome and Bologna.
