The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), is negotiating with leaders representing the security forces to end the strike in the state. The mobilization began a week ago, with the adoption of “standard operation” by the troops. Police officers demand a 41% salary increase.
This Saturday, the 26th, the Secretary of Planning and Management of Minas Gerais, Luísa Barreto (PSDB), in an attempt to open dialogue and end the movement, called members of ten unions to a meeting at Palácio Tiradentes, seat of the Minas Gerais government, this Thursday. -fair. Supporters of the police protests, federal deputies Subteniente Gonzaga (PDT), Cabo Junio do Amaral (PL) and Léo Motta (PSL) and state deputies Sargento Rodrigues (PTB), Coronel Sandro (PSL), Delegada Sheila (PSL) and Delegate Heli Grilo (PSL) were not invited to the meeting at the palace. All of them are aligned with President Jair Bolsonaro and participated in the acts that took place in Belo Horizonte last week.
Zema should receive representatives from ten professional security categories in Minas Gerais, including military and civil police, firefighters, penal, prison, socio-educational and Civil Defense agents, clerks, criminal experts and security analysts.
The leaders of the security forces movement, by means of a note, also stated the day before yesterday that the meeting convened by secretary Luísa Barreto is the first nod that the Zema government makes, “which demonstrates a clear interest on the part of the state executive in initiating a negotiation”.
On Friday, the 25th, the movement held the second protest against the governor in the Administrative City, where the Tiradentes Palace is installed, rejecting the 10.06% increase in salaries for the entire civil service in the state, including retirees and inactive workers. , proposed the day before by Zema.
Agreement
Police forces are asking for compliance with the agreement made by Zema in his first year of government – he promised to recompose the salaries of troops in three installments: 13% in July 2020, 12% in September last year and 12% in September this year. year. The first part of the adjustment was made, but the other two were not. State security forces have not had any readjustments (based on inflation) since 2015, during the administration of PT Fernando Pimentel (PT).
Last week, Zema released a note in which he claimed to be “balancing the accounts”, but that he depends on the renegotiation of the debt with the Union to meet the MPs’ request. “The renegotiation of the debt with the Union will allow the recomposition of the salaries of security professionals. We continue to look for alternatives.”
On Friday, the 25th, the Minas Gerais Court of Justice upheld the thesis of the state law firm and ordered the end of the police strike, under penalty of a daily fine of R$100,000, limited to R$10 million.
The report of Estadão yesterday sought out state deputies Sergeant Rodrigues, Colonel Sandro and Delegada Sheila and federal deputy Cabo Junio do Amaral to comment on the fact that they did not participate in the negotiations, but there was no response until the conclusion of this edition. Deputies Delegado Heli Grilo and federal deputies Subtenente Gonzaga and Léo Motta were not located.
