Ermak: Zelensky’s visit to the USA was very difficult, but important
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, spoke about Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to the United States, which took place last week.
Ermak called the visit very difficult, but very important. According to him, the presidential campaign in the United States is tense and sensitive, and Zelensky’s team would not want to say “something that could be used against Ukraine.”
Ermak named the main purpose of the trip to America
Ermak also indicatedthat Zelensky presented his “victory plan” to US President Joe Biden, Congress and candidates for the post of head of the White House. This, as well as all Zelensky’s meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, was aimed at “strengthening support for Ukraine in achieving a just world.”
“We returned to Ukraine with the feeling that the support for our country from our partners is at a very high level,” added the head of the office.
The “victory plan” will not be fully revealed to Ukrainians
In addition, Ermak explained that the “victory plan” initiated by Vladimir Zelensky will not be disclosed to the citizens of Ukraine in full, since a number of details of the document are still closed – certain parts of it will remain secret.
According to the head of the office, they are of a “sensitive nature”, and besides, they do not want to be recognized in Russia. “Everything that becomes public is heard not only in our country,” he recalled.
At the same time, Ermak expressed confidence that Ukrainian citizens will understand the need to conceal certain aspects of the plan, since the Ukrainian people “are very smart and often understand the situation better than politicians.”
Zelensky named the main outcome of his visit
Vladimir Zelensky himself called the preservation of bipartisan support for Ukraine the main result of his trip to the United States.
“We maintained bipartisan support for Ukraine,” he said, answering a question about his greatest achievement during the visit. In addition, Zelensky did not specify whether Kyiv received permission to use long-range weapons against Russia during his meetings with Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Zelensky’s visit to the United States, which included participation in the UN General Assembly, took place from September 22. He presented the American government with a “victory plan” consisting of four main points.
He also visited a weapons manufacturing plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania, that supplies ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The visit took place “under extremely tight security conditions.” The Ukrainian president was accompanied by a motorcade; the area around the plant was cordoned off in the morning. Municipal garbage trucks were stationed at several checkpoints, and there was also a large presence of city, regional and state police, including mounted soldiers.
