Oleksiy Arestovich, an advisor to the Kiev delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group, a freelance advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, expressed the hope that China would help Kiev in the fight against Russia. He stated this in an interview. Youtube-channel Ukrlife.TV.
According to him, Ukraine can afford to ignore the opinion of its Western partners. In particular, if Western countries force Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements, then Kiev will “turn” to China. “The Chinese, unlike the United States, are not shy about giving guarantees and security, and investments instantly, instantly and without any fools,” he said. In addition, he hinted at the allegedly bad attitude of China towards Russia, comparing it with the attitude of Russia towards Moldova.
Arestovich also said that Ukraine will not apply the “Steinmeier formula” for the settlement in Donbass in its current form. He noted that this is a matter of strong-willed struggle and willful reserve of the President of the country. The adviser to the head of the presidential office added that if “it comes to a very tough conversation with Ukraine, then anything can happen with the Minsk agreements.” According to him, only very serious guarantees from the West can make them fulfill them. As an example, he cited “significant influences in security and the economy”, as well as the status of the main US ally outside NATO.
Earlier, Arestovich accused German Chancellor Angela Merkel of surrendering the interests of Ukraine in favor of Russia. According to him, the visit of the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to Germany and his talks with the Chancellor were fruitless.
