Oleksiy Arestovich, a freelance advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy and press secretary of the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass, predicted an “end” for Russia in the event of a possible “attack” on Ukraine. He stated this during an interview with the TV channel. “House”…
According to Arestovich, such a situation will become “an absolutely losing option” for Russia, and Moscow “cannot but understand this.” “And when they scare us with invasion, expansion, hinting at threats, it’s a bluff. An ordinary bluff, the task of which is to scare us and force us to move in relation to Russian wishes, ”he said. Zelensky’s adviser added that over two years the Russian side was able to make sure that this was “unrealistic”, noting that the best way to solve the problem is to negotiate using the Normandy and Minsk formats.
During the same conversation, the politician expressed the opinion that the Russian side “will play out to the point that Ukrainian missiles will be sent to Moscow in some foreseeable future.” The reason for this, he said, was the work on the rocket program. Arestovich assured that the missiles of the operational-tactical level “will be able to reach Moscow.”
This is not the first scandalous statement by Arestovich that he makes regarding Russian-Ukrainian relations. So, earlier he told in what case Ukraine will engage in sabotage on the territory of Russia. According to him, this is possible only after the start of a full-scale war between the countries.
As the politician explained, Kiev has reasons for this. So, it is unprofitable to organize terrorist attacks in peacetime, because the Russians will be able to quickly restore what was destroyed. In addition, Ukraine may gain a reputation as a country with terrorist and sabotage methods of warfare, but it is difficult to say if Kiev actually has such capabilities at the present time, he added.
Prior to this, Zelensky’s adviser said that at the moment Ukraine is fully ready to join NATO. In his opinion, the country is entering the alliance not as a supplicant with an outstretched hand, but as a huge force. He admitted that Ukraine could become the “fourth force” in terms of military power in the alliance, surpassing most of the NATO countries, in addition to the United States, Turkey and France.
The fact that today there is a possibility of a full-scale war with Russia was announced back in September by the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. In his opinion, an abyss has formed between Ukrainians and Russians. At the same time, he noted that a military clash between the two countries would be Russia’s biggest mistake.
Despite this, the Ukrainian president admitted that, with the joint efforts of both countries, relations could normalize over time.
At the same time, in early October, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, said that Ukraine and the EU were discussing sending a European military mission to the country. The reason for this was the allegedly increased activity of Russian troops in the border regions. The head of the European Council Charles Michel said that the mission will work to strengthen cooperation in the field of security, including the fight against cyber attacks.
