During the talks between Russia and Ukraine, the parties “began to talk.” This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference, he is quoted by RIA News.
“A group of Ukrainians and Russian representatives are discussing certain other issues, they started talking about something, and not throwing ultimatums,” Zelensky said.

The first round of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides began on February 28, the second stage on March 3. According to the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, the countries were able to find understanding on some issues. The third round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations took place in Belarus on March 7 – after them, Medinsky announced unfulfilled expectations.
Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass on February 24. The head of state said that the operation was a response to requests for military assistance from the leaders of the DNR and LNR. He warned of an immediate response if other countries try to intervene in the operation.
