“Ukrainians should be proud to hold out for 50 days,” Zelensky said, describing it as an achievement for “millions of Ukrainians, who on February 24 made the most important decision of their lives: to fight.”
The Ukrainian president recalled the advice of Western leaders on the first day of the war, which urged him to flee from Kyiv.
“They did not know how brave the Ukrainians are, how much we value freedom and living the way we want,” he said.
And Zelensky reviewed a long list of actions carried out by the Ukrainians to repel the Russian attack, referring to “those who showed that Russian warships can sail, even if they are at the bottom”, in an ironic reference to the destruction of the cruiser “Moskva”.
Russia admitted, Thursday evening, that “Moskva” sank after it was subjected to a missile attack, on Wednesday evening, which Kyiv confirmed that it carried out.
