President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared national mourning in connection with 15 victims of a fire in a nursing home in Kharkiv, reports RIA News.
“In connection with the tragedy that occurred on January 21, 2021 as a result of a fire in a nursing home in the city of Kharkiv, and which led to human casualties, in order to honor the memory of the dead, I decree: declare January 23, 2021 in Ukraine a day of mourning,” the decree says.
On the day of mourning, state flags will be lowered throughout Ukraine, entertainment and concert events, including on television, will be canceled.
We will remind, law enforcement agencies detained four people after a fire in a private nursing home in Kharkov. The victims of the incident, which happened on Thursday, were 15 people, another 11 were injured. The nursing home worked illegally; information about it was absent from the register.
Earlier in Kharkov, January 22 was declared a day of mourning.
