Zelensky calls on foreigners to fight Russians in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today appealed to citizens of foreign countries friendly to Ukraine to come to the country to join the fight against Russian aggression, integrated into a kind of new international Legion.

In a video message, Zelensky noted that anyone who wants to join “the defense of security in Europe and the world” can come to Ukraine and fight “side by side with the Ukrainians against the invaders of the 21st century.”

According to the rules of military service in the Armed Forces, foreign citizens can voluntarily join units such as the territorial defense forces.

For this reason, foreigners who came to Ukraine will be integrated into a new unit, the “International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine”.

The message indicates that citizens who want to volunteer can contact the Defense Counselor of the Ukrainian embassy in their respective countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered on February 24 the start of a “special operation” in Ukraine with the excuse of protecting the self-proclaimed pro-Russian separatist republics of Lugansk and Donetsk and “demilitarizing and denazifying” the country, a decision that has been condemned by the international community.
